Best LED grow light for a grow tent

The right tent light covers the floor, dims for seedlings, and does not cook a small space. Start with the footprint, then the diode.

The best LED for a grow tent is the one that covers that floor, dims when the plants are small, and leaves you enough headroom to move air. Wattage on the carton is a clue. It is not the decision. A lamp that is bright in the middle and dim in the corners prints that pattern into the canopy. A lamp that cannot be turned down is awkward for seedlings even when the diode itself is good.

Start with the tent you actually have, or the tent you are about to buy. Then match a published bar to that floor. BAVAGREEN's lead bars use Samsung LM301H EVO diodes. The finished fixtures add 660 nm red, with UV and far-red on their own switches. If you still need the tent, the fan, and the filter, buy them as one kit so the exhaust is sized with the lamp.

Match the light to the floor

A 2×2 ft tent is about 60×60 cm. It is a small volume. It wants a compact, dimmable bar in the 240W class. The 2×2 kit publishes a 4-inch EC inline duct fan, a matching 4-inch carbon filter and 4-inch ducting, and a 6-inch clip-on fan. The published bar in the class is the 240W PLUS, a four-bar LM301H EVO fixture. Published 60×60 systems have also shipped around 120W and around 150W, so the draw on the packing list is the number that counts. A 600W six-bar is the wrong tool in this tent: the floor is too small, and the heat has nowhere to go.

One step up, the published complete set is the 80×80 cm kit. The frame is 80×80×180 cm, about 2.6×2.6 ft, in 1680D cloth, with the same 240W bar, a 4-inch EC inline duct fan at 212 CFM, a matching 4-inch carbon filter and 4-inch ducting, and a 6-inch clip-on circulation fan. Some published listings describe that set as a 3-plant kit. Treat the count as a listing note and confirm it for your crop.

A 3×3 ft tent is about 90×90 cm. It sits between the 80×80 kit and a 4×4. The 3×3 kit uses the same ventilation as the 4×4: a 6-inch EC inline fan at 410 CFM, a 6-inch clip-on fan, and matching 6-inch filter and ducting. The exact bar is confirmed on inquiry. The published neighbors are the 240W four-bar and the 600W six-bar.

A 4×4 ft tent is about 120×120 cm. That is the coverage BAVAGREEN publishes for BA-600W-PLUS, a six-bar, 600W LM301H EVO light listed for a 120×120×200 cm tent. The 4×4 kit pairs that bar with a 1680D tent, 22 mm metal poles, a 6-inch EC inline fan at 410 CFM, a matching 6-inch filter and duct, and a 6-inch clip-on fan. The 4-inch inline fan belongs to the 60×60 and 80×80 kits.

Read the fixture number, not only the diode

Samsung's LM301H EVO is the white horticulture diode on these bars. BAVAGREEN's published listings quote about 3.14 µmol/J at the diode and about 2.90 µmol/J for the finished fixture. The fixture number is the one to compare. It includes the driver and the red, UV, and far-red diodes, which do not share the white diode's efficacy.

On the 600W bar the published fixture output is 1740 µmol/s at 600 W. On the 240W bar it is 696 µmol/s at 240 W. Those are the manufacturer's figures for those two models. Confirm the current datasheet when you order. A different wattage, or an older diode family, does not inherit these numbers. LM301B and LM301H still appear in the broader range. If the project must be EVO, say so on the inquiry.

Photon output is what the plants use. Watts are what you pay the utility and what you have to remove as heat. Two lamps can both say 240W and deliver different amounts of light. When you compare a board with the 240W four-bar, look at fixture PPF and at how evenly the light lands on the floor.

Spectrum you can work under

A white base is easier to inspect plants under than an all-purple lamp. You can see a pale leaf, a pest, or a deficiency without a green flashlight. The published bars list a mix of 3000K and 5000K white, 660 nm red, 730 nm far-red, and 385 nm UV on the 600W sheet. The 240W bar is listed as LM301H EVO mint white plus red, far-red, and UV.

The white and red base is the light the plants grow under for the whole cycle. UV and far-red are supplemental channels. On the Pro bars they have their own control, so they can stay off in early growth and come on when you want them. Running every channel at full power from day one is not the point of a separate switch. The UV and far-red page is the short version. The LM301H EVO page is the diode background.

Dimming, height, and heat

Seedlings and clones want much less intensity than a flowering canopy. A 0–100% dimmer lets you lower the lamp without lifting it into the ceiling of a short tent. Both published bars include that dimmer. Hang height and intensity belong together. The distance chart is a generic starting range for a modern LED bar. It is not a BAVAGREEN PPFD map. Ask for the map of the model you buy, and watch the leaves: tight, pale growth can mean too much light, and stretch can mean too little.

LEDs still warm a tent. More of each watt becomes light than it did under an old sodium lamp, and the tent is still a closed box. A small tent heats up quickly. That is why a complete kit includes an inline fan and a carbon filter instead of leaving the exhaust as a second shopping trip. Tell sales the ambient room temperature if the tent will sit in a warm space. The 2×2 and 80×80 kits publish a 4-inch EC inline fan and a 6-inch clip-on fan. The 3×3 and 4×4 kits publish a 6-inch EC inline fan at 410 CFM and a 6-inch clip-on fan.

Kit, or the bar on its own

Buy the kit when you still need the tent and the ventilation. The kit index lists 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, and the 80×80 set. Cloth on small tents is published in both 600D and 1680D. The 80×80 kit and the 4×4 tent listing are 1680D. Say which cloth you want when both are open.

Buy the bar alone when the tent is already up. Use the 240W bar for the smaller floors and the 600W page for a 4×4. A quantum board can still be the right shape in a very short 2×2. For a wider canopy, a bar spreads the same diodes across more of the floor.

This site takes inquiries. It does not take payment. Email or WhatsApp with the tent size, the plant count, the country, and whether you already own a fan. Sales replies with a packing list. Read the watts guide for a 4×4 if that is your floor, and the LED and HPS comparison if you are replacing an older lamp.
